6 Tips for a Healthier Beard

Beards, where would we be without them? I’ve rocked many forms of facial hair through the years. Whether it’s a full grown beard or light stubble, I’ve done it all. Having a beard is a single factor that instantly makes any male look more ‘manly’.

Through my years in the male grooming industry (and my own personal experiences), I have learnt a lot about the do’s and don’ts when it comes to taking care of your facial hair. Everyone’s beard is different, and they each deserve unique love and care.

Whether you are looking to start growing out your facial hair, or you’ve had a beard for years, there are certain factors that every man needs to consider:

LET IT GROW

This goes for all men out there that are on the beginning of their beard journey. Growing out a beard requires patience and dedication; it is a piece of art after all. You’re not going to get that beard you’ve been longing for overnight. If you decide to grow out your facial hair in a beard, it will take time. As simple as it sounds, you need to let your facial hair grow. I get asked time and time again why it’s so hard to grow a beard. The answer is it’s not; you just need to stick at it!

BEARD SHAPE

This is a very important point. Your beard needs to compliment your face shape. When you are grooming your beard, you need to consider what beard style fits your face shape best. For example, if you are going for that crisp cut between the top of your cheeks and your beard, your cheekbones should play a role in where you your beard starts. Figure out what suits you best so you can rock your beard with pride. Not sure how to configure the beard that suits your face best? SHAMPOO AND CONDITION

Washing your hair does not only count for the hair on top of your head, it counts for your beard and moustache too. If you want the hair on your face to look as healthy as the hair on your head, you need to treat it with the same level of care. Using a shampoo and conditioner on your beard and moustache is essential. Unfortunately, this is something that many people neglect to do, hence them resulting with a tragic case of brittle beard.

COMBING

When you’re combing through your hair in the mornings, you need to ask yourself if you are neglecting your beard. If you leave your beard be, the hair within it will get tangled and become full of knots. This is not a good look for any man. Comb through your beard with a wide-toothed handcrafted wooden comb to ensure that it is groomed properly and is looking its best.

BEARD OIL

Speaking of looking it’s best, you really need to be using a beard oil. Make sure you invest in high quality beard oil (that has ingredients such as coconut oil within it) that will hydrate your beard and leave it feeling softer than ever. Here at Debonair For Men we have the perfect beard oil for the job that not only makes your beard look incredible, but also leaves it smelling amazing.

HEALTHY DIET

Having a healthy diet is not only good for your insides, it is also has a positive impact on you on the outside. By getting the right vitamins in your diet, your hair will be stronger and less fragile, which will make you beard have more of an impact. Don't skimp on the veggies and try to maintain a balanced diet daily. A healthy diet will result in a healthy beard.

Beards are a great thing. So it’s important that you take care of yours, and make sure it lives up to its potential. Having a beard is a strong look that defines a man’s image, so make sure your beard is reflective of the man you are.
